Haven started Kindergarten today! I couldn't believe that was my baby girl walking into school with her princess backpack and lunchbox. Where did the time go?
Haven has been so excited to start school. She has been asking for an alarm clock so she could wake up by herself to go to school "like a big person". So her daddy went shopping on one of his "own self time" nights. (That is what we call it because of a song Haven sings called, "Own self time".) He went all out, getting Haven a pink alarm clock that looks like a castle with a night light that shines stars on her ceiling, and the alarm is music from all the disney princess movies. We sent her on a scavenger hunt last night to find her surprise and she thought it was the greatest!
She woke up to her alarm at 7am this morning ready to start her big day. She got herself dressed and ate a healthy breakfast. She put cream cheese on her (whole wheat:-) bagel while I fixed her some eggs. She looked up at me and said with a huge grin on her face, "Momma, I feel like the most specialist girl in the world!" I replied, "Well honey you are special." She said, "I know but I just feel extra special today." My heart was smiling.
Hunter and I took her picture infront of the house and then again infront of the doors of her school. We both thought it was a lot easier emotionally than we had expected. We think it was because she was so excited to be there, and her teacher is a really warm person... thank you Lord.
I'm happy to report that Haven was just as happy when I picked her up and really wasn't ready to leave.
